Job Summary
Review architectural & structural drawings, cross referencing them with the information in the specification book to create a comprehensive estimate with an accurate materials list and scope of work.
Prepare commercial project estimate packages for presentation to the customer working alongside salesperson. Communicate, on a daily basis, with both internal and external customers to ensure all critical information is correctly incorporated into the commercial estimates.
Responsibilities & Duties
• Review and evaluate cost estimates• Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues regarding new & current projects.
• Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials and labor estimates.
• Review material & labor requirements to decide most effective way to produce components.
• Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services.
• Prepare cost estimates, bids and technical reports.
• Ensure timely completion of estimates.
• Establish and maintain working relationships with vendors & subcontractors
• Work directly with Outside Sales Representative and General Contractors regarding all aspects of blueprints, structural issues, specification book, estimates, voluntary substitutes and scope of work.
• Assemble & expedite submittals
• Work alongside salesperson, customer, and subcontractor to ensure all schedules are met.
• Expedite and resolve issues as they arise.
Qualifications & Requirements
• 4 years in lumber and/or building materials industry.• Estimating experience.
• Proficient in industry and supplier software applications.
• Proficient in Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• High School Diploma, General Education Degree (GED) or Associate’s Degree required
• Rough Carpentry, Project Supervision and or Project Manager experience will be considered.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Certificates of Completion in blueprin
