JOB DESCRIPTION
 

The Plant Manager is responsible for all activities involved in selling, designing, manufacturing, servicing and distributing building components [floor/roof trusses and wall panels]. The Plant Manager is accountable for the operations and leadership of the plant to ensure maximum sales and profitability through inventory management, expense control, productivity, quality control and human resource management. The Plant Manager reports directly to the Regional Manager. This person should have high standards and a strong belief in our mission and goals as a 100% employee owned company.

 

Requirements to be considered for this position:
·         6+ years of management experience in a component manufacturing environment.

·         Strong understanding of the production of trusses and wall panels

·         Strong knowledge of manufacturing methods and process improvements

·         Strong understanding of scheduling and shipping methods.

·         Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and evaluate problems.

·         Exceptional written and oral communication skills.

·         Proficient in supplier related software [MiTek Sapphire, Epicor BisTrack].

Responsibilities of the Position:
1.       Financial Performance & Leadership

·         Assumes complete accountability for financial performance of the plant.

·         Oversees all areas of the plant to ensure and maintain high standards of quality, safety and service.

·         Develops budget for plant and carries out the plan to meet that budget.

·         Sets the overall direction for the plant through long and short term goal planning.

·         Activitily monitor and manage accounts receivable by taking an active role in customer collection issues.

2.       Sales & Design Leadership

·         Monitor to ensure we are leveraging the tools available from our software providers.

·         Establish and manage sales goals and budgets.

·         Monitor estimating and design schedules.

·         Develop and nature strong relationships with customers.

·         Review and analyze branch’s sales performance against quotes and programs to determine the effectiveness of the sales approach.

 

3.       Workforce Development

·         Recruit, interview, and select high potential and/or proven designers, supervisors and operational associates.

·         Coach team members to improve performance, service levels, and maintain a high quality working environment for team members.

·         Manage personnel issues, training, discipline and terminations of employees.

4.       Production & Scheduling Management

·         Review and manage production schedule, providing leadership to overcome constraints and backlogs.

·         Ensure production is able to meet delivery schedules.

·         Promptly communicating with customers if we are unable to accommodate their needs.

·         Limit material waste and movements.

5.       Purchasing & Inventory Management

·         Purchase building materials used in floor/roof trusses and wall panels

·         Maintain adequate and accurate inventory levels.

·         Maintain operational procedures for verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials.

6.       Safety & DOT Leadership

·         Maintain a safe work environment by promptly correcting all unsafe activities and issues.

·         SBCA Truss Technician Level 1 certification.

Responsibilities & Duties of Truss Designer
  • Read and review rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from building design professionals to include architects, engineers and draftsmen.
  • Evaluate feasibility of design ideas, based on factors such as appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and market characteristics.
  • Research production specifications, costs, production materials and manufacturing methods, and provide cost estimates and itemized production requirements.
  • Modify and refine designs to conform to customer specifications, production limitations or building plan modifications.
  • Ensure conformance to all relevant building requirements and municipality building codes.
  • Develop component documents for work orders the reflect knowledge or equipment used in plant and how to optimize efficiency of cutting and component assembly; demonstrates knowledge of loading conditions and utilizes design software packages.
  • Assist sales and customer service staff on technical aspects of customer inquiries.
  • Present quotes and reports to sales, bidding and discuss need for modification.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements of Truss Estimator
  • 2 years of industry and truss design experience.
  • Proficient in industry and supplier software applications.
  • Proficient in Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • High School Diploma, General Education Degree (GED) or Associate’s Degree required.
  • CAD and/or BIM experience preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Job Summary

Review architectural & structural drawings, cross referencing them with the information in the specification book to create a comprehensive estimate with an accurate materials list and scope of work. Prepare commercial project estimate packages for presentation to the customer working alongside salesperson. Communicate, on a daily basis, with both internal and external customers to ensure all critical information is correctly incorporated into the commercial estimates.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Review and evaluate cost estimates
  • Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues regarding new & current projects.
  • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials and labor estimates.
  • Review material & labor requirements to decide most effective way to produce components.
  • Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services.
  • Prepare cost estimates, bids and technical reports.
  • Ensure timely completion of estimates.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with vendors & subcontractors
  • Work directly with Outside Sales Representative and General Contractors regarding all aspects of blueprints, structural issues, specification book, estimates, voluntary substitutes and scope of work.
  • Assemble & expedite submittals
  • Work alongside salesperson, customer, and subcontractor to ensure all schedules are met.
  • Expedite and resolve issues as they arise.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • 4 years in lumber and/or building materials industry.
  • Estimating experience.
  • Proficient in industry and supplier software applications.
  • Proficient in Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • High School Diploma, General Education Degree (GED) or Associate’s Degree required
  • Rough Carpentry, Project Supervision and or Project Manager experience will be considered.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Certificates of Completion in blueprint reading and estimating.
  • CAD and BIM experience is preferred.

Truss Builder – Work with a team to assemble roof and floor trusses according to Mitek design schematics.  Construct what goes into every house that people call home.

Wall Builder – Construct wall panels using a nail gun in a controlled production environment. We’ll train you and the teamwork is amazing.

Our Truss Team is looking to hire an experienced Designer to lead design efforts for wood roof, floor trusses and engineered wood products. This Designer position has the option of being performed remotely. 

Preferred Designer candidates will have:

1.    3+ years of Truss design experience using Mitek software required.

2.    Experience with both residential and commercial design desired.

3.    TTT certification a plus.

4.    Associate's degree in Building Trades, Engineering/Architectural Drafting, CAD, or a related field is desired.

5.    Strong organization, computer, and communication skills.
